Area Residents React to Social Question, in a BIG way!

As the rain, and winds began moving into our area yesterday, another storm was brewing.
The topic of conversation was a simple question about Main Street in Mansfield, where businesses have come, and gone, and so has the passion to create and maintain on offering that benefits the area, and will support itself. Or has it?
As of the time of writing this article, the Facebook post VIEW HERE has 3 shares, and quickly approaching 100 comments. Interestingly, as you scroll through the comments, and the opinions, their seems to be a huge interest, and a loyal following of people wanting something different.
A few key points from this article, that are quite noticeable……
– Business is needed, and wanted
– The Welcome to Mansfield sign needs cleaned, or replaced. Referred to a “sign of Death.”
– Main Street is ripe for an awakening of new business.
– A gym, Mexican Restaurant, and Entertainment are the popular interests
– Main street evidently needs cleaned, “The most thriving aspect to Main Street are the weeds that grow on the street side of the sidewalk.”
A valid opinion, and one that seems to fall off the radar is how the parades, (Christmas, and Homecoming) have declined in size, and support. In earlier years, Mansfield drew one of, if not the biggest parade events for this area. Why hasn’t Mansfield looked in a Night Christmas Parade, and why hasn’t the Homecoming parade received more support since it was resurrected a few years ago, after it disappeared?
One comment stated that the support as a whole for the school sports has went away, not declined, WENT AWAY. The streets, and business were adorned with “Go Big Red”, and “Beat <Insert opponent>”, where has that gone?
This article may feel slanted one way, which journalism should invoke thoughts, ideas, and opinions, not personally directed perspective. Looking at the bigger picture, we care about this town, its residents, and the future.
