The first ever state youth checkers tournament is scheduled to take place at Buckner Park community building in Witcherville on Saturday, March 30.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and the tournament will start at 9 a.m. There is no entry fee for players. This ACF sanctioned tournament will be “go as you please.”
Players must be a paid ACF member to hold the state title. ACF membership is $40 per year, and can be paid at the time of registration.Â
Additionally, the Arkansas youth winner must be a current Arkansas resident. Participants can play with a free ACF membership, but will not be eligible to hold the state title.
The player’s families are welcome to watch their children compete for the title of Arkansas Youth Checkers Champion. They do ask, however, that all family members remain quiet during the tournament so the kids can concentrate on their games.Â
If your child wishes to play in the tournament, please contact Quint Hodges at 479-806-6321 or Johnny Barham at 479-366-8240. They would like to know how many to expect and how many tables to set up prior to the tournament.
