Graduates have walked. The sports equipment is put away. The end of the 2017 sports season is officially over for the Mansfield Lady Tiger softball team. Yet, the accolades for one of its main players continue to round the bases.
Diamond gem, Makayla Bolton, an influencing third baseman for the Mansfield softball team has collected a string of honors since her graduation walk on May 15. To date the dynamic senior has been named All-State, All-District, All-Star, and Best of River Valley first team.
The Arkansas Activities Association just released the 2017 All-State selections. Bolton, out of the 3A Region 1 West conference, was among the select few on the list. Conference rivals Cedarville and Charleston each landed a player on the All-State lists as well through a nomination process of district coaches.
In connection with that honor, Bolton was also chosen among an elite group of statewide seniors to represent the West in the 2017 AHSCA All-Star softball game. The June 20 contest will showcase some of the most highly decorated seniors throughout all classifications from 1A to 7A.
Previously, Bolton was already an All-District award winner. She was also picked among a group of 300 athletes, from 28 schools, and 17 sports as one of the River Valley’s best. Just a few weeks ago, she was invited to take part in the first annual All-Star Banquet hosted by The Times Record and featuring Dallas Cowboy Darren McFadden as its keynote speaker. She was placed on the RV Prep All-Star first team softball.
Bolton batted .521 for the season. It was a season that ended in a second round loss to Bald Knob at the class 3A State Tournament. She amassed 38 hits and 21 RBI’s while sporting a .911 fielding percentage at the hot corner.
CONGRATS Makayla!
