Cinderella has yet to make her appearance at the Class 3A state basketball tournament as no real upsets have taken place according to seedings. On day one of the tournament, the afternoon sessions, both in the boys and girls brackets have gone according to pre-tournament seedings with the exception of the third-seeded Gosnell boys defeating the second seed Little Rock Prep boys. Here is a summary of the afternoon games played on Day 1 of the tournament.
Girls Bracket
Hoxie defeated Little Rock Episcopal 45-32.
Central Arkansas Christian defeated Walnut Ridge, 65-49.
In tonight’s girls bracket game, Valley Springs plays Fouke at 7 p.m.
Boys Bracket
Rivercrest defeated Jessieville, 88-79.
#3 Seed Gosnell pulled the mild upset over #2 seed Little Rock Prep, 57-53.
In tonight’s evening session, in the boys’ bracket, Valley Springs plays West Helena Central at 8:30 p.m.
