Last year the Hackett Police Department began a campaign called Hackett Helping Hands. The program focused on providing assistance to families in need within, and around the Haclett community.
This past Saturday, Hackett Police, and Helping Hands supported a fundraiser at the CIty Park where visitors enjoyed Halloween Festivities, costume contests, and a lot of fun.
Last year, partnering with the Dollar General, Hackett Police Dept. provided drop off boxes for customers to donate food and new toys while shopping in the store. Through the generous donations of Hackett citizens, Hackett Helping Hnads were able to raise approximately $2,000 through the donation jars and a gofundme page.
“It was a community effort all the way around. We were blessed to have been able to provide not only for the residents of Hackett, but were also able to branch out and help families in the county as well” Hackett Police Chief, Darrell Spells.
The goal for this year is to top last years numbers. “I’m reaching out to not only businesses in Hackett, but to other locations in an effort to reach our goal. Ask any of our officers, including myself, and they’ll tell you passing out toys and food last year was the highlight of the year. The smiles on those families faces made our year! Enclosed is a few photos from last years campaign.”
