On Friday, March 29, Scott County Judge James Forbes welcomed area veterans and spoke humbly in heartfelt gratitude.
“…The contributions and sacrifices of the men and women in Scott County, Arkansas who served in the Armed Forces have been vital in maintaining the freedom and the way of life enjoyed by our citizens AND WHEREAS many men and women in uniform have given their lives while serving in the Armed Forces AND WHEREAS on March the 29th day of 2019 has been officially designated as the day in Scott County, Arkansas to remember and recognize veterans
who are recipients of resolved that the County Judge of Scott County Arkansas does proclaim that Scott County, Arkansas is a Purple Heart County…”the Purple Heart. Now therefore let it be
Purple Heart recipient Ed Mathis was honored by Judge Forbes as well as fellow veterans. Mathis served in both the Army and Marine Corps. Also represented were many members of the VFW Post 1345.
