After falling short to Paris and Gentry, the Mansfield Lady Tigers have picked up their first big win of the softball season against the Lavaca Lady Arrows. The Lady Tigers completely shut down the Lady Arrows showing no mercy and taking the win 11-0 in five innings. Although it was a beautiful day, Mansfield delivered plenty of frozen rope to Lavaca through their hard hits and quick sprints. Earning runs for the Lady Tigers was senior Maggie Strunk with three, junior Hailey Walker and sophomore Kiara Thomas with two each, and with one apiece was seniors Abby Morgan and Kyli Davidson, junior Morgan Burns, and freshman Brooklyn Adams.
The Lady Tigers had a field day with their 15 total putouts. Allowing nothing to get past them was Adams with 11, junior Chloe Creekmore with two and Burns and junior Amber Elmore with one each. Strunk was a beast on the mound as she faced 19 batters catapulting 80 pitches and striking out 11 players. Mansfield will hit the dirt again on Monday, March 9th at home as they take on the Alma Lady Airedales at 4:30 p.m. This is Alma’s first game of the season and with three games already under their belts, the Lady Tigers are hoping for a steal.
