Playing tonight in a non-conference home game, the Mansfield Lady Tigers are ready to get out on the field after back to back losses and start bringing in some wins. On Tuesday night the Lady Tigers hosted the Lincoln Lady Wolves to an entertaining cat and mouse game. Starting the game off first was Mansfield with one run in the first inning.
Things were quiet until the third inning when the Lady Wolves answered back with their own run bringing the score to 1-1. At the end of the seventh inning, the girls found themselves in a 3-3 tied ballgame. After giving everything that they had during the eight inning game, the Lady Tigers took one on the chin ending the game 10-5 Lincoln.
Mansfield sits 4-8 in total season play but is looking to change that first number after tonight’s match-up. Coach Kent Elmore explains what happened during the Lady Tigers game against the Lady Wolves, “We continued to struggle at the plate. We have worked our tails off in the cage and I know that our bats will start to click soon. Errors are what lost us the game.”
“Caroline Nicodemus pitches a great game and we failed to back her up. Kyli Davidson hit the ball very well along with Kylie Eveld. Maggie Strunk also came through with a big time hit that gave us a chance to win the game. We will continue to work hard to get better. To be successful in the upcoming games, we have to get the bats hot.” Mansfield will play tonight at home against the 2-7 Ozark Lady Hillbillies at 4:30 p.m.
