Leran Edward Holmes of Waldron, Arkansas passed from this life, Monday, October 23, 2017 near Waldron, Arkansas. Leran was born May 18, 1949 in Dallas Texas to Loyd Holmes and Lucille (Lynch) Holmes. Leran was 68 years old. He was a long time member of Hon Baptist Church in Hon, Arkansas.
Leran was a United States Army veteran. He proudly served his country in Vietnam. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and he also served as the Veteran’s Service Officer for Scott County. In his spare time, Leran enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He enjoyed his dog BW being with him in all is endeavors. Leran mostly looked forward to spending time with his granddaughters and family. Making memories to last forever.
Leran leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Crissy of the home, one daughter Angel Allen of Missouri, three sons: Josh Holmes and wife Debbie of Companion, Louisiana, Daniel Ates and wife Penny of Claremore, Oklahoma and Ben Ates of Claremore, Oklahoma as well as one sister, Charlene Long and husband Larry of Hon, Arkansas and twin brother Leonard Holmes and wife Tina of Hon, Arkansas and brother Linden Holmes and wife Janice of Hon, Arkansas. Paw will forever remain in the hearts of his granddaughters: Alexandria and Alyssa. Leran will be missed by all that knew him and the many whose lives he impacted including a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and loved ones.
Leran was preceded in death by his parents.
Leran’s life celebration will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2017 at the New Life Church in Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Ken Boyd and Rev. Dale Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Cemetery near Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
Leran’s pallbearers will be Josh Holmes, Daniel Ates, Ben Ates, Richard Holmes, Robert Holmes, and Darren Tull. Honorary pallbearers will be Landen Holmes, Loyd Holmes and Donald Cairns.
Leran’s visitation will be Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
