The Mansfield City Council held their regularly scheduled meeting, Thursday, July 21st at Mansfield City Hall. In attendance were the City Council members – Georganna Mabry, Dave Johnson, Nathan Sterling, Beverly Lyons, Rick McDaniel, and Sheri Hopkins, Mansfield Recorder / Treasurer – Becky Walker, Mansfield Mayor – Larry Austin, Mansfield Police Chief – Boyd Farmer, Mansfield Police Sergeant – Stephen Westbrook, and Mansfield Fire Chief – Stephen Haysmer, as well as a many citizens, and business owners of our area.
With The City of Mansfield showing a lot of activity with interest in growth from potential businesses, current business growth, and land construction, the main topic of discussion was adopting a proposed Arkansas Land Use Plan (ALUP).
The ALUP is a policy the pertains to the community’s desires for its future growth and development based on community determined goals and objectives. It’s primary purpose is to present a design for a comprehensive and compatible direction for growth. The plan is a combination of of textual and map based information which include 1) Listing of Goals, 2) Statement of Policies, and 3) Listing of City Priorities.
Information pertaining directly to the City of Mansfield, the Mansfield Police & Fire, and Public Works:
Mansfield Police Department reported on the MSD Bus Garage break-in where (2) teenaged suspects were seen with bandanas on the property. MPD asks that anyone having information, or witnessing any strange activity call(479) 928-5700.
In other MPD related news, Sergeant Westbrook made a stop concerning use of seat belt, which resulted in (4) arrests, (4) bags of Meth confiscated, (1) “Be On the Lookout” (BOLO) for suspect wanted by the Federal Marshall Service.
Mansfield Public Works Department reported (1) Resignation of longtime garbage truck driver, and (2) New employees are “on track” and doing well
Mansfield Fire Department reported (8) volunteer fireman in total, brush truck ready for operation, and (5) calls.
The City Council will meet again, at their regularly scheduled meeting in August.
