On Saturday, May 11, Mansfield Volunteer Fire Chief Stephen Haysmer resigned his position from the department.
During the city council meeting, held on Thursday, May 16, Mayor Black announced that one other member of the department, Steven Haysmer, had also resigned.
During that meeting Alderman Beverly Lyons made the motion to amend the agenda to add an executive session in order to discuss the appointment of a new fire chief.
After reconvening, Mayor Black announced that no consensus could be reached on that appointment, and that they would continue to work towards an agreement.
