A meeting of the Board of Education of Mansfield School District No. 76
At the special meeting of the Board of Education of the School District aforesaid, at the Administration Building, on August 16, 2021, there being present Rick Nicodemus, Michael Gipson, Dewayne Ward, Lesli Baggett, and Jan Carlton; Absent: None.
All members of the board, the following business were transacted to wit:

The meeting was called to order by Rick Nicodemus, School Board President, at 6:02 p.m.
IN THE MATTER OF: Consent Agenda Items
A motion was made by Nicodemus, seconded by Gipson, to accept Mr. Staton’s recommendation to approve the consent agenda items as presented.

IN THE MATTER OF: Covid-19 Vaccine Incentive Pay
A motion was made by Nicodemus, seconded by Ward, to accept Mr. Staton’s recommendation to approve the Covid Incentive Pay Resolution.

IN THE MATTER OF: ADE Statement of Assurances for Programs under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965
A motion was made by Nicodemus, seconded by Gipson, to approve the ADE Statement of Assurances for Programs under the Elementary and Secondary Educational Act of 1965.

IN THE MATTER OF: Increase Adult Lunch Prices to $4.00
A motion was made by Gipson, seconded by Baggett, to approve the cost of $4.00 for adult and non-reimbursable meals.

IN THE MATTER OF: Student Transfers
A motion was made by Nicodemus, seconded by Bagget, to accept Mr. Staton’s recommendation to approve the transfer of Ryleigh Mitchell and Jayden Hearron from Hackett to Mansfield School District pending the release from Hackett School District.

A motion was made by Nicodemus, seconded by Carlton, to approve the transfer of Lilly Davis from Mansfield to Van Buren School District for online schooling.

IN THE MATTER OF: Camera Upgrades
A motion was made by Ward, seconded by Baggett, to approve Mr. Staton’s recommendation to accept the bid from Morton’s Technology Services for the camera upgrades at the elementary and middle school.

IN THE MATTER OF: Jr & Sr High Boys Track Stipend
Executive session was requested at 6:26 p.m.
The meeting was called back to order at 6:51 p.m.
A motion was made by Baggett, seconded by Gipson, to approve the head boys track stipend for junior and senior high to be added to Joshua Brown’s contract for the 2021-2022 school year.

IN THE MATTER OF: Hire – Kim Boyd
A motion was made by Baggett, seconded by Gipson, to accept Mr. Staton’s recommendation to hire Kimberly Boyd as music and choir teacher.

Motion passed 3-2.
Superintendent’s Report
Enrollment on the first day of school was 748 students: 284 elementary, 222 middle school, and 242 high school.
Covid update: Starting the first day of school with 1 district employee home with a positive covid test and we have 5 students quarantined. These were not school-related.
The football and volleyball benefit games are Tuesday, August 17 at Mansfield.
The district has army worms on all campuses. The district is addressing the issue and all campuses have been sprayed twice as of now.
Mask update: A judge has made an injunction on the mask law. The attorney general has filed an appeal. The district is waiting on a final ruling but currently does not have a mask mandate but encourage all faculty, staff, and students to wear masks.
School board zoning information: the 2020 census results have been officially confirmed and district has a 14% minority rate in which will require the district to have zoned school board positions. This process has started and all members will have to re-run for positions in 2022.
First Financial – Beardsley is looking for a date to do their school board training.
