Friday night match up between the Lavaca Arrows and the Hackett Hornets is sure to be a hard hitting, smash mouth war. The kind of football game you get with a budding rivalry face off at the end of the season. Hackett has beaten the Arrows in the last 2 seasons, which doesn’t sit well for the Arrows. Expect the Arrows to come out looking for a little payback.
It is also Senior Night for our Arrows. This senior class has not beaten Hackett since dropping to the 2A. Senior captain and middle linebacker Trevon (T-Man) Moore said that, “ The past two years since we picked up Hackett on our schedule, They have beaten us down harder than anyone. It will mean the world to us seniors to get some payback”
There is a lot at stake in this game. With a Lavaca win and a Mountainburg win, the Arrows would find themselves in a 3 way tie for second place. To add even more incentive to the mix, If the Arrows can win by at least 13 points they would win the tie breaker and lock up the 2 seed going into the playoffs. Needless to say, there is a lot more to play for than just the rivalry. However, one reason that this matchup is becoming a rivalry is because there seems to be a lot at stake every time these two meet.
Coach Schlinker is ready to take the field. He said, “ I am excited about our offensive game plan. Coach Coby Graves, our OC, has put together a great scheme for this weeks game.” Regarding Hackett he said,” They (Hackett) bring a lot of pressure. Our O-line has to be extremely disciplined. Defensively, we must contain their quarterback, and defend the play action pass.”
