Last night held the perfect setting for a game of ball. The sun was out. There was a light breeze. And there were zero bugs attacking your face. Ah yes. Baseball season is in full swing. The Mansfield Tigers hosted the Lincoln Wolves for Tuesday nights game. The Tigers started the game off fast and furious leading the score 3-1 in the first inning.
But the Tigers lost steam and fell short 10-3 against the Wolves. After the evening’s match-up, Mansfield sits 2-4 on the season and 1-2 in conference play. Hightailing it for the Tigers with one run each was Tyler Watkins, Hunter Willsey, and Nathan Brewer.
Pounding out the hits were Isaac Cothran and Nathan Brewer with two each. And Layton Howard and Hunter Willsey each with one. Staying busy while out in the field was Isaac with eight putouts. Cody Fudge with four. Layton, Tyler, and Hunter with two apiece. And with one each, Nathan, Codi Chick, and Seth Fudge. Assisting with 11 total were Layton, Seth, Cody, and Hayden Henson.
Coming in with a grand total of 103 pitches were senior pitchers Seth Fudge and Hunter Willsey. Hunter accomplished 79 pitches to 33 batters striking out two and Seth threw 24 pitches to six batters striking out two as well.
The Mansfield Tigers will have a few days off before hitting the road to play rivals the Waldron Bulldogs on Friday, March 29 at 4:30 p.m.
