With homecoming gaining most of the attention during last week, the focus for the Senior High Tigers were defending their home field against the Gators of Two Rivers.
The Tigers were attentive to the task at hand, and controlled the ball from the start. Coach Bentley stated, “We challenged the team to come out and dominate from the first whistle and they more than stepped up to the challenge.”
Having both the defense, and offense controlling the game clock, and ball possession, the Gators couldn’t find their feet against the Tiger attack, and with a final score of 40-2, favoring the Tigers, this game capped off a festive week, positioning the Tigers for their playoff hopes.
Facing Perryville on their home field this week, the winner of this game more than likely get the 4th or 5th playoff seed from our conference. Bentley, “Our goal since day one has been to make the state playoffs. To be able to have a chance to accomplish that goal this late in the season is a big accomplishment for our program, considering where we started at in the middle of July.”
Congratulations to #15 Brennan James (overall), #79 Grant Ellison (offensive), #66 Ethan Moore (defensive) and #4 Tyler Harper (special teams) for being selected the Mansfield Football Players of the Game.
GO TIGERS!
