William Kumlien, of Y-City, AR passed from this life, Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Y-City, AR, surrounded by his beloved family. William was born March 19, 1940 to Elwin Hall Kumlien and Ruth Robbins Kumlien, in Janesville, WI. He was 77 years old.

Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. He married his wife, Virginia, and they shared 39 wonderful years together. He worked the majority of his career in the Oil Field Industry and traveled from Montana to Texas on various job sites. He worked his way up from the bottom position of “worm” to being a consultant when he retired.

His focus was always on his family, from providing for his wife and children to always being available for his grandchildren-in any capacity. Having a great sense of humor does not begin to describe his engaging personality. He had a ready smile and could crack a joke on a dime, bringing laughter to everyone.

He never met a stranger and would talk to anyone. He had a wide variety of friends and enjoyed entertaining. He was a self proclaimed chef and liked to cook, especially grilling! He had a special formula for grilling his steaks and he learned to cook on a disk over a propane burner making his burritos and homemade tortilla chips.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia, of Y-City, AR; four sons: David (Rhonda) Kumlien, of Morenci, AZ; Bill (Marsha) Kumlien, of Morenci, AZ; Joe (Joyce) Kumlien, of Smyrna, TN; Charlie Kumlien, of Waldron, AR; and two daughters: Lori (Richard) Hinkel, of Lucedale, MS; and Jackie (Matt) Riedel. He was adored by his 12 grandchildren: Kayla, Kevin, Michael, Rian, Stefan, Destynee, Joseph, Bryce, Katie, Jayden, Justin and Nathan, as well as 4 Great-Grandchildren: Jason, Kevin, Corey, Kayleigh. He is also survived by one brother, Richard (Sue) Kumlien, Janesville, WI and one sister, Shirley Kumlien of Las Vegas, NV. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Elwin and Ruth Kumlien; two sisters: Elaine Slowey and Laura Kergar and one brother, Jack Kumlien.

William’s memorial life celebration will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, AR. Arrangements and cremation are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, AR.
