There’s no mountain too high or dream too big for the Hackett Lady Hornets. During the 2019 softball season, the girls have shown what it takes to be at the top and with the season not even halfway over, the competition is going to have to bring their A-game. With last nights almost total domination, the Lady Hornets beat the Mountainburg Lady Dragons 17-6 upgrading their total season play to 7-2.
Kayla Richardson led the team with four runs while Madeline Freeman and Shayla Foster each secured three. Autum Neal scored two runs and with one run a piece was Audrie Chaney, Kadence Glass, Rachel Widmer, Sarah White, and Audrey Bryan.
Shocking the crowd by making not one but two home runs were Lady Hornets Audrie Chaney and Kayla Richardson. Kayla also achieved three steals. Bagging their own totals in the field were Sarah White with four putouts, Kadence Glass with three, and Madi Taylor reaping two assists. Senior Audrie Chaney got time on the mound pitching in three innings. She racked up 52 pitches to 16 batters striking out 2. Sophomore pitcher, Kayla Richardson, struck out five of the 10 batters she faced during two innings hurling out 42 pitches.
Tonight, the Hackett Lady Hornets will play a Double Header away game against the Acorn Lady Tigers. Games will start at 4 p.m.
