Cedarville’s running back, Darryl Kattich, was recently selected to the All-State class for the 2019 football season. Kattich, a sophomore, is the only non-senior of the four players selected in the 3A-1 conference. Coached by Max Washausen, Kattich rushed for 1,511 yards on 171 carries with 18 touchdowns on the year. He played in all 10 games for the Pirates averaging 8.8 yards per carry and 151.1 yards per game. Kattich rushed for 100+ yards in 9 of the 10 games played. He is the Class 3A top rusher in the state and is currently a Top 10 finalist for Sophomore of the year, regardless of classification.
Pirates selected for 3A-1 All-Conference for the 2019 football season include Hayden Partain, Kevan Jones, Alex Ascencio, Kelin Mitchell, and Brayden Russell.
It’s been 10 years since the Pirates have had an All-State football player and ten years ago was the end of a three-year streak for the Pirates All-State selections. In 2009, Pirate duo, Kyle Bailey and Kyle Ellenbarger made All-State. In 2008, Mike Roberts was selected and in 2007, Barrett Blaylock was picked. With two more years to play, Kattich has a good chance of making additional history for the Cedarville Pirates as a multi-year or duo selection. Regardless, this four-sport athlete will be anything but boring to watch.
