The crowd was psyched as they packed the Dog Pound last Friday night to watch the Waldron Sr Lady Bulldogs and the Charleston Lady Tigers. You couldn’t get a better overall atmosphere for two teams to face off in. The players were pumped and ready to rock against a powerhouse Charleston team who was undefeated 11-0 at tip-off. The Lady Bulldogs gave the Lady Tigers a run for their money as they went all-in against Charleston but they couldn’t ante up enough as they fell 39-25. This game placed the Lady Bulldogs with a 4-8 conference record and 10-15 in total season play.
“I’m proud of the girls for playing hard and executing our game plan. We still have to be tougher at the rim and free-throw line but we are getting better,” explained coach, Josh Atchley. In conference play, the Lady Tigers have been winning by a total low side of 45 points and a total high side of 67 points. Just that fact alone is a fete in itself with the Lady Bulldogs “Epic Eight” holding Charleston to only 39 points.
Chelsea Stidman led the team with eight points followed by Rheagan Sanford with six, Hailey Stidman with five, Jessica Ozuna with three, Molly Richmond with two, and Kadance Espinoza with one. The Waldron Bulldogs hit the court again on Tuesday, February 11 at Elkins with games starting at 4:30 p.m.
