In their previous meeting, Lamar routed Mansfield 49 – 14. While not characterized by quite the same dominating performance, the rematch ultimately ended up the same way. Lamar strolled past Mansfield with points to spare, taking it 40 – 21.
Mansfield’s record fell to 1-4 after the loss. The win got Lamar up to 2-3.
“Tough night for us. Lamar came out and hit us in the mouth early. They dominated us physically. We hung around for a bit and fought back in the second half to bring it to 11, but we keep digging ourselves holes that are tough to get out of. The next 3 weeks are huge for us. every game from this point on is do or die. I still believe we are a playoff team, but its a uphill battle from here. Injuries have played a big role in the last 2 weeks and will continue to do so , its got to be a”next man up”mentality for us right now. I know the type of kids we have, the type of character they have , so Im confident in them as we move forward.” – Head Coach, Craig Bentley

Mansfield will battle it out against Cedarville in an away conference game this Friday at 7:00 PM.
