The lady tigers traveled to Booneville last Thursday to take on the lady Bearcats. The lady tigers played well below the expectations of Coach Bryan. “The girls did not play their best today and fell short on the scoreboard. My expectations were not met as a team today although we did have a couple players play well” stated Coach Bryan.
Mikayla Harrison and Danielle Lillie accounted for 17 of the teams 18 points. Player of the game goes to Mikayla Harrison where she had a season high 12 points in the game including 3 3-pointers. Danielle Lillie played very good defense in the game and accounted for multiple tipped passes that resulted in turnovers for Booneville.
After a long break over Christmas, the girls looked a little sluggish and seemed tired during their game. “We will work hard to be back on track for our upcoming games against Cedarville, Ozark, and Waldron” added Coach Bryan.
Yesterday, the Lady Tigers of Mansfield took on the Lady Tigers of Charleston at home. After the first quarter our lady tigers were down 8-1. Over the next 3 quarters the Lady Tigers battled and kept the game within 2 points until one of Charleston’s players hit a clutch 3-pointer to keep the Charleston lady tigers at a 2 score lead.  The Mansfield Lady Tigers outscored the Charleston lady tigers 22-20 after the first quarter.
“If we could have hit a couple of missed opportunities early in the game, I feel the results would have been in our favor” stated Coach Bryan. “Our girls played well today but we still haven’t managed to get over our hump of missing open players and making our open baskets count. We did have another player step up today in a big way on offense. Amber Elmore posted up very well in the game and came out with 10 points in the game; 8 of which came off free throws where she shot at a season high 80% for the game. We had many players step up today including two 7th graders, Olivia Bouse and Skylynn Harris, which saw some minutes in the game. Other stats, Mikayla Harrison had 9 points, Danielle Lillie with 3 points. Danielle Lillie, Haylee Helms, Mikayla Harrison, Olivia Bouse and Sadie Roberts all had multiple steals or tipped passes in the game. Hailey Walker, Amber Elmore, Sadie Roberts and Skylynn Harris accounted for over 25 rebounds as a group.”
The Lady Tigers play at home on Thursday against the Cedarville Pirates. These teams competed against each other very early in the season and the Lady Tigers were not prepared for that game. Tomorrow with more game time under their belt, the Lady Tigers expect to rectify that loss.
Come out and support your Lady Tigers tomorrow night at 6:00 PM at Mansfield High School.
