Vernon LeeRoy Wright, better known as V.L., passed from this life Saturday, November 25, 2017 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, surrounded by his loving family. V.L. was born July 13, 1938 in Waldron, Arkansas to Argus R. Wright and Jewell G. (Bottoms) Wright. V.L. was 79 years old.
V.L. was born and raised in Waldron, Arkansas. As a young man, he married the love of his life, Robbie Goddard on January 14, 1961. Together they worked hard and raised four amazing children. Then they became treasured grandparents. V.L. worked at Waldron Furniture Factory and drove a school bus for Waldron Public Schools for 36 years. Over the years, he transported many young ones as first time students and he watched them grow into successful young men and women. He impacted many young lives as a positive influence. V.L. was also a farmer. He enjoyed his cows and working his livestock. He was happy when he was on his farm. As busy as he was, V.L. looked forward to time spent with his family. He enjoyed making memories to last a lifetime.
V.L. leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 55 years, Robbie Nell Wright of the home, two daughters: Debbie Knight and husband John, Darla Sims and husband Jerry all of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, two sons: Richard Wright and wife Jami and Terry Wright all of Waldron, Arkansas. Papa V.L. will forever remain in the hearts of his grandchildren: Blake Wright and wife Nikki, Erik Hutchens, Abbi Wright and one great grandson, Mitchell Wright. V.L. will be missed by all that knew him and the many whose lives he impacted including a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones that meant so much to him.
V.L. was preceded in death by his parents, Argus and Jewell Wright, sisters: Betty and Olgia and brothers: Jackie and Virgil Lee.
V.L.’s memorial life celebration will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Rickey Hunt officiating. Arrangements and cremation are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas.
