GREENWOOD, Ark. – First National Bank of Fort Smith is proud to announce our board of directors has approved a $100,000 gift to the Sebastian County Regional Library’s new Greenwood facility, helping advance a project that will serve generations of residents throughout the region.
In recognition of the bank’s commitment to education, literacy, and community enrichment, the library’s Community Room will be named in honor of First National Bank of Fort Smith. The space will provide a welcoming gathering place for educational programs, civic meetings, workforce development, financial literacy classes, children’s activities, and community events for years to come.
The new Sebastian County Regional Library, currently under construction near Highway 71 and Center Street in Greenwood, will double the size of the current library and significantly expand services available to families across Greenwood, Barling, Lavaca, Hackett, Bonanza, Huntington, Mansfield, Hartford and surrounding communities. The approximately 10,000-square-foot facility will feature dedicated children’s and teen spaces, study rooms, outdoor learning areas, technology resources, and a modern community room designed to bring people together. The project represents a significant investment in education, lifelong learning, and quality of life throughout the region.

Children’s programs, adult literacy, senior adult opportunities, homeschooling and collaborative education are very important to raising our standard of living and help to support our workforce here in Sebastian County.

Sebastian County Judge Steve Hotz was very excited to hear that First National Bank was donating $100,000 to the county’s new library. Hotz stated, “That’s a substantial contribution, one that will really help as we work to wrap up this project this fall. I want to thank Sam Sicard and the First National Bank Board of Directors for providing this generous contribution to literacy in Sebastian County.”
A formal recognition and check presentation celebrating the gift and the naming of the First National Bank Community Room will be held on August 7, 2026.
