Rev. Robert Lewis Caldwell, of Waldron, Arkansas, was born January 18, 1946, in Brownwood, Texas, to Homer Franklin Caldwell and Vera (McClendon) Caldwell. Robert went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in Waldron, Arkansas.
Robert married the love of his life, Glenda Nelson, on June 25, 1982. Together they shared many years of love, family, faith, and treasured memories.
Robert was a kind and giving man who loved his family deeply. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His family will remember him for his generous heart, his devotion to those he loved, and the faith that guided his life.
Robert answered the call to preach at the young age of 16 and spent many years sharing God’s Word at several churches throughout the area. His faith was an important part of who he was. He loved reading and studying his Bible and found great joy in encouraging others through the message of Christ.
Robert proudly served his country in the military during the Vietnam Era. In his free time, he enjoyed sports, and spending time with his family.
Robert leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Glenda Caldwell; two daughters, Mindy Lou Doster of Waldron, Arkansas, and Teresa Caldwell; three sons, Robert Caldwell Jr., James D. Caldwell, and Lewis J.R. Brayton; and two sisters, Mary Bell Pinnon and Glenda Smith.
Grandpa will forever remain in the hearts of his grandchildren, Christopher R. Cossey and Marissa Diaz, as well as a host of other grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will continue to carry his love and memory with them for generations to come.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Franklin and Vera Caldwell; two brothers, Homer Caldwell Jr. and David Caldwell; and one sister, Darlene.
Robert’s Graveside Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Duncan Cemetery with Rev. James Rinker officiating.
Visitation will be Monday, September 7, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas.
Robert lived a life centered on faith, family, and service to others. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort knowing that the man who spent so many years preaching about his heavenly home has now arrived there.
