The Huntington City Council met on Monday, September 16, and voted to hire Stacy Wieburg as Chief of Police.
According to Mayor Gary Lawrence, they had interviewed several candidates for the position and that he was “glad to have him (Wieburg) back.”
Wieburg got his start in the City of Huntington as a reserve patrol officer six years ago. He will rejoin the department, this time, however, as Police Chief.
“I am excited to go back to Huntington,” Wieburg stated. Adding, “I will work hard to do a good job.”
He is currently an officer with the Mansfield Police Department, and was voted 2019 Officer of the Year.
According to Mayor Lawrence, Wieburg will take over the first week of October.
