Mrs. Cheryl Davis, who teaches third grade Science and Social Studies at Mansfield Elementary, was recently named the Guy Fenter Educational Services Cooperative (GFESC) Teacher of the Year.
Dr. Curtis Varnell, the GFESC Science Specialist, presented Mrs. Davis her award on May 18th. The GFESC serves 24 school districts. Mrs. Davis was selected from several thousand teachers within those 24 districts and was voted on by more than 700 colleagues.
Mrs. Davis was nominated by Dr. Brett Stone, a professor from the University of the Ozarks. Dr. Stone has worked with Mrs. Davis through the Math and Science through Technology program, where he has had several opportunities to observe Mrs. Davis in her classroom. Dr. Stone noted how caring she is and how she works with every child including the special needs children in her class.
Mrs. Davis has taught at Mansfield for 35 years. Congratulations Mrs. Davis!
