Hello, everyone! We actually got some rain at my house in Mansfield, and it cooled things off a little. I think today we are at 93 degrees. I will take it after what we have had.
I used to say I was going to marry a rich man and retire in Boca Raton, Florida. That is sounding better all the time—the temperatures there are in the 80s this time of year. I love warm weather, not crematory weather.
Well, since I mentioned crematories, I haven’t talked about funerals in a long time. I was sitting the other night thinking, and I told Ella, “If I were to die, make sure Jacob sends my body to Heritage Memorial in Waldron.”
She looked at me funny and said, “OK, Nana.”
I told her, “I know it’s kind of far from Van Buren, and he will not want to drive that far, but make him.”
She kept looking at me funny, and I said, “One more thing: Make sure Sammy fixes these triple chins of mine. When you lie flat on your back in a casket, all these chins will be showing, and I do not want that.”
That really made her look at me funny, but she agreed to do it. I do not want all my chins showing while I am in the casket!
Then I told her, “Who am I kidding? Jacob will take the money and have me cremated.”
That brings me to another story. I was surfing the internet and saw an ad for cremation. It said prices start at $750 and go up to around $2,500. OK, my question is this: If the starting price is $750, is that for a skinny person, and is the $2,500 option for a big person like me?
I really need to know the answer. I guess I need to call one of the funeral homes and ask because I’m very curious.
Enough about funerals—except I still haven’t found a cemetery closer to Van Buren so Jacob won’t have to drive far for the funeral. I have been looking, and there are some nice ones, but it’s kind of scary to think about being buried with strangers you are not even kin to. I guess I will keep looking.

In Butler County, Alabama, they have Bacon Pasture Cemetery. In Bollinger County, Missouri, they have Upper Deck Cemetery. In New Madrid County, Missouri, they have Big Opening Cemetery, and in Jackson County, Colorado, they have Slaughter Cemetery.
I know y’all think I’m crazy, but things like this make me laugh.

Coconut Ooey Gooey Cake
(A twist on the original recipe)
Ingredients:
- 1 box white cake mix
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 4 large eggs
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon coconut extract
- ½ cup shredded coconut
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350° and grease or spray a 9×13 baking dish.
In a bowl, mix the cake mix, melted butter, and 2 eggs until combined. Press into the baking dish.
In another bowl, beat the cream cheese, remaining 2 eggs, powdered sugar, and coconut extract until smooth. Stir in the coconut, then pour over the crust and spread evenly. (Use less coconut if you prefer.)
Bake 40–45 minutes until golden brown. Don’t overbake or it’ll dry out.
