“Just Roll with It” Serving up Recipes and Humor

Hello everyone!! I’m sitting here waiting for the rain we are supposed to be getting. So far, not a drop. Hopefully, this evening the sky will open up and we will get some rain.
I don’t drive on the Towson Avenue part of Fort Smith very often, but I was there on Saturday, and every time I’m in that area, there are always pieces of clothing, a shoe or something in the street. This time, there was a shirt, and farther down was one shoe. Do people just decide to throw their clothing out the window? It was close to Braum’s and The Little Dude. Maybe they were gassed, as Andy Griffith would say. I notice this a lot. If you are ever over in that area, look for clothing items. One time, I was at the intersection of Phoenix and Jenny Lind, and there was a bra in the street.
I’ve thought about it but never followed through. When I was a senior in high school, three girls decided not to wear bras to school, and back in 1981, that was a no-no. They got suspended for it. Enough about garments.
Y’all know I raised my three grandchildren, Ethan, Evan and Ella. I love them with my whole heart. They used to say some of the funniest things. They are all grown now except for Ella—and she thinks she is.
They used to love to play bingo, and I would set prizes out for them to choose from. I was calling bingo one time, and Ella, as serious as could be, said, “Nana, if you would call the N free, I could bingo!” She was as serious as could be. Bless it, I guess I never told her that was her free space.
One time, Ethan was telling me something about college. He was rambling and trying to think of what he wanted to say when he said, “You know, like when you have a monkey paw.”
I’m really trying to think hard about a monkey paw, and it finally hits me. I said, “Do you mean like a monkey wrench in your plans?”
“Yes, that’s it,” he said.
Good thing I can read between the lines. Like the old Tammy Wynette song, “Kids Say the Darndest Things.”
Y’all have a wonderful week, and hug those grands and loved ones tight. If we get rain, I may go outside and play in it like we did when we were kids.
I have shared this recipe before, but since it’s been so hot, it sounds nice and refreshing.
Kool-Aid Pie
1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
1 0.13-ounce package unsweetened Kool-Aid mix
8 ounces Cool Whip
1 6-ounce graham cracker crust
Stir together the sweetened condensed milk and the Kool-Aid packet. You can use any flavor you want. I heard fruit punch was really good in this recipe. Fold in the Cool Whip and spoon the mixture into the graham cracker crust. Chill for one hour before serving.
