Mrs. Howard recently taught a lesson discussing physical and chemical changes objects go through. The class had been discussed the physical properties and how substances can be converted into something new with an outsider energy applied. The 5th grade Middle School Science classed had the opportunity to watch the and explain the process of going from chemical versus physical changes.
Mrs. Howard, a graduate of Mansfield and 20 year teacher for the school, used the opportunity to help the 5th grade students learn the concept through pancakes. What better to make students pay attention than have them anticipate luscious pancakes. Students had to explain the process in how the pancakes were made by developing their writing skill comprising directions. The students were able to explain the difference and even better eat the proof of the process.
