(Pictured Left to Right) Mansfield Chief of Police – Boyd Farmer, Mercy VP of Operations – Steve Gebhart, Mansfield Mayor – Larry Austin, and Mansfield Patrolman – Tom Garrison, stand in recognition of dedicating the Mansfield Police Department.
Tuesday, December 13th, 2016 marked an important date for the Mansfield Police Dept, and the surrounding agencies. At 3:00pm, the once Mercy Clinic building located slightly south of the Mansfield City Hall, was dedicated to serve all law enforcement, and as the permanent site for the Mansfield Police department.
Mercy VP of Operations, Steve Gebhart stated, “This building constitutes our commitment to not only Mansfield Police, but the City of Mansfield, and the agencies that it will benefit. We’re currently working on creating a community health committee that will benefit everyone in this area as well.”

Mansfield Police Chief, Boyd Farmer makes the dedication official by cutting the ribbon. Huntington Police Chief, Brandon Odle (Left), and Mansfield Patrolman, Tom Garrison hold the ribbon steady.

Mansfield Police had been headquartered on property east of town, but Mayor Glen Hurt, seen a bigger picture during his time as Mayor of Mansfield, and knew the P.D. needed to be more centrally located, and near downtown Mansfield. Today’s dedication was a culmination of his efforts, and foresight.
The newly renovated P.D. now offers each of the four officers their personal office, interrogation, and investigation rooms, as well as amenities that will aid in their jobs of serving our communities in a much broader, and efficient manner.
Chief Boyd Farmer stated, “We’ll be able to serve the community in a more public manner being inside downtown. We’re extremely proud of being here at this location.”

Henson Utilizes “Santa Cam” for Education, and Fun

Mansfield Elementary School third grade teacher, Lisa Henson has not only devoted her life to educating our children, but sees Christmas as a time for learning, and having fun.
Henson, who has a special relationship with Santa, is utilizing a Santa Cam with her students this year. The camera relays images straight to the North Pole in real time. Henson says that the camera itself is very special to not only her, but to the kids.
“They react to the Santa Cam knowing whose watching on the other side of the camera. It’s a lot of fun for us all” stated Henson.
A key fact about the Santa Cam is that it’s always on, and it doesn’t miss a thing. So, be aware of this when you visit the Elementary school before, and after Christmas.
Thank you, Mrs. Henson. We appreciate you, and all that you, and our teachers do each day for our kids, and our community.
