The City of Mansfield, and each school campus was full of spirit this week as part of the homecoming festivities each day. A large crowd of family, friends, and community members lined Main Street to watch the homecoming parade make it way through downtown Mansfield.
As the parade officially began at the Mansfield High School, after the on field ceremony, they made their way down Tiger Trail, and in front of the Elementary school, down Main Street, ending just past the Middle School. Students took time from their day to watch the parade go by each campus.
Congratulations to the 2016 Senior High Homecoming Court!

Tiger Pals are a HIT with MES Students
Mansfield School District has recently added new elements that not only create awareness among the schools, and their programs, but also include the community. “Tiger Pals” is one of those new additions.
Mansfield Elementary Schools 1st grade teacher, Mallory Walker initiated the idea after seeing similar programs work in other schools. With Coach Bentley having interest in an aspect that parallels the Tiger Pals program while he was at Mena School District, he was quick to come aboard and help Walker.
Tiger Pals is a program that allows the High School football team to come into classrooms at the Elementary School on home game Friday’s and talk to students about making positive choices in their lives, reading to them, and going outside to play with the kids.
Walker stated, “Students look forward to seeing their Tiger Pals on Friday and I think that the football boys are excited to get in the classroom each week!”

Tigers Taste VICTORY!
When you entered Tiger Stadium last Friday night, you felt something in the air. Something that was familiar, like a childhood memory that took you back to years ago. At the end of the 4th Quarter, that “something” became clear as the crowd literally roared with cheers, to be followed with two words from the announcer….. TIGERS WIN!
It was a good moment, and one that won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
Coach Craig Bentley, and his staff have been leaders both on, and off the field, giving hope, encouragement, and motivation to the young Tiger squad knowing a win was coming. The question was, when? Bentley, “There were times when we could have looked for excuses or said “here we go again” but they stayed determined ,trusted the process, played with great intensity, and played their guts out.”
With a final score of 34-26, favoring the Tigers defiance of not making the mistakes that have plagued them this season, and trusting one another, and their individual roles. You could see it from the stands. These Tigers came together Friday night. They were one.
The crowd of family, and fans of Tiger Football were exactly what Tiger football was, at one point. LOUD, supportive, encouraging, and letting the Tigers know, they were there, and giving them the support they needed. Bentley added, “We had a great crowd, and we had a definite home field advantage. I’m happy for our fans as well, they have been great all year long. Thank you!”
Congratulations to #22 Joseff Buccella (overall), #61 Bailey Mckusker (offensive), #51 Andrew Wright (defensive) and #13 Dohee Kim (special teams) for being selected by MAXpreps as the Mansfield Football Players of the Game.
Congratulations Mansfield Tigers, and Coaching Staff. And, THANK YOU Tiger Fans!
Hackett Deflates Decatur
When you have a good thing going, you start to concern yourself with doubts. The momentum keeping the train on the tracks is sufficient, but once doubt sets in, the tracks start coming apart. That’s not the case with the Hackett Hornets.
In fact, the support from the community, the solid foindation from the coaching staff, and the eagerness found in the Hornet squad defends the doubt, yet grounds them to the realities that each win is earned, not given.
Last Friday Night, the Hornets traveled to Decatur where their momentum carried onto the field, and into the final score of 58-27 leaving the Decatur Bulldogs deflated.
Ely Stormes (6 TD’s) 8 of 13 passing for 127 yards, with five TD’s, and 1 -34yd rushing TD
Brady Hester (2 TD’s) 93 yards with 3 catches
Robert Collins (2 TD’s) 43 yards on 2 catches (also a fumble recovery on Defense)
Anthony Collins (1 TD) 24 yard rushing TD
Pacey Mcbride (1-TD) 19 yards on four carries, and 17 yards on 2 receptions
Beau Nelson had a 5yd “scoop & score” for a TD
Malachi Crone had the Quarterback sack causing the fumble leading to a 36 yard fumble recovery that set up a TD.
Congratulations Hornets!
The Hornets will host the Danville LIttle Johns this week at home.
