It was a family feud at Paris Gymnasium on Tuesday night as the Eagles of Union Christian visited the Eagles of Paris. And when the night was over, it was the Paris Eagles and Lady Eagles coming away with non-conference wins that will lead into Friday’s conference opener at Waldron.
In the opening game of Tuesday’s two-game sessions, it was the Lady Eagles getting their fourth win of the young season over Union. Playing with just six players on the roster this season, Paris has seen opponents substitute freely and employ fast transitional offensive games combined with tough pressing defenses, all aimed at fatiguing the Lady Eagles and getting them into foul trouble in the second halves of games. But on Tuesday night, it was Paris prevailing in a runaway win. Paris coach Donald Hart was happy for his team’s victory on Tuesday, saying after the game, “It was good to get back on the “W” side of the column to build some confidence going into conference play after a rough last three games. We have plenty of work left for this group with the best yet to come. We have to keep grinding to get better on both sides of the ball.”
With the win, Paris improves their overall record to 4-5 on the season, and will open conference play on Friday at Waldron.

In the nightcap, it was the Paris senior boys completing the sweep over Union Christian with another decisive victory over the Union Eagles. The boys team appears to be coming together just at the right time before they too open conference play Friday at Waldron.
After the game, Paris coach Josh Ferrell said, “I thought we played a really good game. It was a struggle getting into a rhythm offensively, but, Union Christian had a lot to do with that. We had guys step up off the bench that gave us a spark of energy that we needed. We played really hard. I was proud of the way we shared the ball and got everyone involved.”
Paris will open conference play on the road at Waldron on Friday before returning home on Tuesday to host the Hackett Hornets. The final conference game before the semester break will be played on Friday, December 17 at Danville. The Paris boys will play in the Bill Frye Class invitational tournament at Mansfield on December 28-30 before returning to conference play in January.
