Thomas Announces Run For City Council

“I want to serve the city,” summed candidate Julie Thomas. Thomas has announced she is running for Ward 1 Position 1 on the Mansfield City Council.
Thomas, a Mansfield native, is married to David Thomas. The couple have been married 23 years, and have three children and three grandchildren. Additionally, she is an alumnus of Mansfield Schools, Class of 1995.
“I have 20 plus years working in sales, management and face-to-face customer service. I will stand strong for what is right for our city. I won’t back down to opposition and I will always make decisions based on what is best for the City of Mansfield. I thank you all for the support you’ve already shown and would appreciate your vote in November. Thank you for your consideration.”

Booster Club Hosts Football Friday Tailgate Party
This coming Friday, come early to enjoy a tailgate party hosted by the Mansfield Football Booster Club starting at 6:00pm.
FREE hot dogs, chips, and water will be available to those who attend the tailgate before cheering on their favorite team as the Mansfield Tigers host the Waldron Bulldogs.
NOTE: Chick-Fil-A sandwiches and Great American Cookie slices will be available at ALL Senior High and Junior High football games this season.
Farmer Announces Mansfield Mayoral Candidacy
Current Mansfield Police Chief, Boyd Farmer has announced his candidacy to run for the Mansfield Mayor’s position.
Farmer stated, “I want to announce that I am running for Mayor of Mansfield. I will continue to have an open door policy for the citizens of Mansfield and strive to bring our community together for the good of all who reside in our town. Lady Arrows Fall Short With Tough Loss

The Lavaca Lady Arrows played hard but came up short tonight against Farmington. Farmington jumped out to a two set lead but the Ladies of Lavaca wouldn’t go down without a fight.
Lavaca finally captured the lead 12-11 in the 3rd set. It was the first time Lavaca lead since 1-0 in the first. They went on to beat Farmington 25-18 in the 3rd set. Lavaca came up short n the 4th and final set tonight losing 3 sets to 1.
The Lady Arrows battled hard despite having multiple players out do to injury. Lavaca will travel to Alpena tomorrow to take on the Lady Leopards.
Heydenreich Celebrates 99th Birthday

Celebrating a birthday at any age is a special occasion, but 99 years is almost a milestone. Today, the members of the Mansfield Senior Center along with Mansfield’s Mayor Mike Gipson, celebrated that milestone and the life of Margie Heydenreich.
Heydenreich was met with heartfelt wishes, cards and a special song, her favorite, “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder.” Her response was a wonderful smile that reciprocated the love she was shown. From everyone here at Resident Press, we wish you a very happy birthday!
2018 Lavaca Cruise Night Tremendous Success

The Main Street of Lavaca was packed this past Saturday night! It was the 2nd Annual Lavaca Cruise Night sponsored by the Lavaca Area Chamber of Commerce. Cars, trucks, motorcycles and even an 18-wheeler cab got into the spirit and made the trek through town, cruising from 6:00pm until after 9:00pm. Classic cars and trucks gathered ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ like an Independence Day fireworks display.
Vendors lined the strip selling kettle corn, pizza, funnel cakes, nachos and more. There was a build-a –bear type booth, games, bounce-arounds and even a dunking booth! The dunking booth was a great success because of the volunteers who agreed to take a dip in the tank. Policemen, teachers, first responders took turns on the tank, much to the pleasure of local citizens! The ones who gathered the most attention was our chief of police Randy Toon and our own mayor Hugh Hardgrave!  I love a good sport and these people went above and beyond!
The parking lots were filled with cars and the streets lined with people from near and far. Local businesses were busy non-stop from people buying food and drinks and such. It was a success for the chamber, the local businesses, our community and for the people of our small town!
