Defendant Jay Parker was in a Scott County Court on Wednesday, September 16, alongside his attorney, Derick Allison.
Allison petitioned the court in June, seeking to be removed as legal counsel. Allison cited non-payment by his client, “pursuant to the agreement of both parties.” Circuit Court Judge Jerry Don Ramey took Allison’s motion to withdraw as counsel under advisement. It was noted that Parker does not qualify for a public defender.
Parker is facing 379 counts of cruelty to animals and two counts of theft of leased or rented property.
