Mansfield School District has made some tough decisions over the last four to five years with the unknown financial obstacles that may or may not lie ahead. These decisions were made for the longevity of the school, and not just another quick fix.
We recently sat down with MSD Superintendent, Robert Ross who stated, ” Mansfield has seen it’s ups and downs, and with the decisions being made for the long term, we’re looking really good.”
Ross listed the improvements that are either currently in progress, or planned for this year:
Elementary School

  • Installation of a new awning & pavilion that covers the bus access
  • Paving of bus lane parking
  • Exercise room for students (State funded)

The covered sidewalk that gives Elementary students access to the bus lanes is still under construction, but looks to be completed in time for the first day of school.

Middle School

  • Funds available for implementation of new playground
  • Exercise room for students (State funded)

– Security upgrades at each campus which will secure school entrances, and control traffic in a more efficient manner. These upgrades include magnetic door locking devices which will automatically lock all doors for security purposes.
– Currently developing a mobile app that will be an all inclusive information hub for parents, and student to utilize.
-Computer infrastructure has been revamped with new servers, upgrades to smart boards, and computers district wide.
-All buildings, hallways, and locker rooms are undergoing a facelift with new paint
-Vision Clinic to be added in Fall. Dr. Adam Schluterman Eye Care from Fort Smith will be the Ophthalmologist.
-2% raise given to all staff
Ross added, “After many years of what seemed to be uncertainty, Mansfield School District is financially sound, with great things planned for the students, our employees and the community.”
