The Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a shooting that took place last night, December 12.
At approximately 10 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a call from a property owner who believed there might be a prowler on his property, located at the 5500 block of Echo Road in Huntington.
Deputies were immediately dispatched to that location. Meanwhile, according to SCSO Captain Pevehouse, the caller contacted a nearby family member to come to the barn and assist him. “The family member arrived and began to look around the barn. While looking around, he was startled by movement in between some pieces of equipment and knew it was a person. Unsure of the person’s intentions and whether or not the subject had a weapon, the family member shot one round.”
The subject was hit and was held at gunpoint by the family member until the arrival of deputies. EMS was notified and the person was taken to Baptist Health in Fort Smith. “He is still alive and may be facing surgery sometime today. He is listed in critical but stable condition,” added Pevehouse.
Deputies and investigators worked on scene through the night interviewing involved parties. At this time no charges have been filed and no arrests have been made.  The investigation remains ongoing and no names have been released at this time.
