There’s nothing like getting an early Christmas present. We’ve all been there. You see that huge present under the tree and your parents give you a small early gift as a tease about how good Christmas will be. The excitement of seeing that one early gift can give you chills as you imagine how much better it’s going to be, come Christmas morning. Well, the Waldron Bulldogs Peewee Football Program got an early gift and boy did it give the players chills. Brand new blacked out helmets!!!

Waldron’s entire community has come together in a matter of weeks to play Santa Clause. Along with a grant, local businesses and citizens stepped up in an enormous way to show the Peewee program that they believe in them and will help them do whatever it takes to build a great Bulldog program.

Waldron Peewee President, Jared Kluthe, said “The Sodie Davidson Park / Peewee football program has received a very generous grant that allows us to buy some much-needed equipment for the kids that are involved in the football program. So with this along with other donations from people and businesses in our community, we are starting with helmets to try to cut down on concussions. Many of our older helmets are outdated and will not meet safety guidelines in the future and safety is our number one goal for these young athletes. We have discussed many new options for graphics and we truly feel that these bring the new age of the old back into our program as we have decided to go back to black and orange instead of the white helmets. We are still working on new designs for the uniforms.  Our goal this year is to get 100 helmets and shoulder pads to replace the old ones. We have had an outpouring of support from several people in Waldron.”

This act of giving by the community of Waldron is the perfect example of the Season of Giving. The Waldron Peewee Bulldogs moto is “Rise As One”, but it is apparent that the players aren’t the only ones who have bought into that moto. Waldron as a whole has bought into it as well and is coming together to Rise As One.
