Every August about the end of the month, the Waldron School board comes together with several Scott County citizens to pray for the school year ahead.
They pray for safety; they pray for peace. They pray for strength and bravery.
Gathered in the hallway a brief group prayer is said. Then the people slowly walk down the halls. Most of them with their hands on walls or lockers.
In the quiet hallways you can hear the echoes of voices as people walk around.
Soon the quiet hallways will once again fill with footsteps, voices and the familiar sound of the school bell.
From the youngest, newest prayer walker to the ones that have been a part of the walk for several years Waldron Public School System will start the year well prayed for.
