The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has set up two refrigerated drop-off containers in Sebastian County. One is located at the Fort Smith Regional Office on Massard Road in Fort Smith and the other is located at Mansfield City Hall.
These drop-off containers are available Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. They will be available throughout the 2018-19 deer hunting season. A representative of the AGFC stated “Hunters can leave the head from their harvest (antlers removed and approximately 6 inches of neck attached) to one of these locations to have the deer tested free of charge.”
Matthew Howell of Mansfield recently dropped off one to be tested. “He knows that even though the deer looks normal, CWD in its early stages doesn’t show signs,” stated Mayor Mike Gipson.
