Biblical Principles

Biblical principles work! Always! For every one or anyone who applies them.

Let’s look at the Biblical principle of “work”. Start in Proverbs with the statement of the principle: …he that gathereth by labour shall increase. (13:11); …In all labour there is profit. (14:23) – (“Labor” means “work”). Also, Paul said in 1st Thessalonians 4:11 to: work with your own hands”, and in 2nd Thessalonians 3:10: “…that if any would not work, neither should he eat”.

As important as the principle of work is, the principle of “how to work” is also important. This is found in the Old Testament, in Ecclesiastes 9:10: “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might…” In the New Testament, Paul, in Colossians 3:7 and in Ephesians 6:7, basically said, “Do all things as unto the Lord”.

My personal experience in applying these two principles as a commercial construction superintendent from 1985 to 1996 and as owning and operator at a for-hire hay baling operation from 1996 until 2017 proved their worth to me. Now I didn’t get rich by the world’s standards, certainly didn’t become a millionaire, but I didn’t go hungry.

I think possibly one of the biggest lies I’ve ever believed is that you’ve got to have a “job”, “punch a clock”, and get a paycheck on Friday in order to “make a living”. Instead, choose an honorable occupation or profession, perform the “work” of it to the above Biblical principles, and “custom” and customers will beat a path to your door. Yes! Biblical principles work!
