The EAST Conference is the most anticipated event of the year for students enrolled in Environmental and Spatial Technology. Thousands of students, educators and guests converged on the Hot Springs Convention Center March 13-15 to celebrate success and share the projects they’ve been doing throughout the school year as part of an annual conference hosted by the EAST Initiative.

Liam Connally received First place in the Hacking category. Congrats!

EAST Con 18  included 240 EAST schools that set up booths in the event hall to display the service learning projects they have worked on during the year.  Student ambassadors from each school attended breakout sessions to get hands-on experience using advanced technology and to hear nationally acclaimed speakers who inspired them to accomplish new and challenging projects. These session provided the students with valuable information.
Hackett High School was well represented at conference by Terrell Washington, Cass Moquett and Liam Connally who made up this year’s EAST con 18 team.  These young men presented projects that Hackett EAST students worked on, to a panel of judges who scored our booth based on project sophistication, professionalism and use of technology.  Liam Connally competed in a contest “Office Hack”, presented by the United States Air Force National Guard, in which he was given five minutes to solve a computer problem. Liam finished 1st solving the problem in just over three minutes and was one of only two students to complete the task in the allotted time.  Every year students leave conference more excited and more energized to serve their communities than when they arrived which is the EAST goal.
