It was a close hard-fought battle between the Mansfield Jr High Tigers and the Lavaca Golden Arrows. The Tigers stayed hot on the Arrows trail but in the end, fell with a final score of 35-24 Lavaca. The Tigers are still working on trying to find their football footing but when that happens, chances are there’s going to be an earthquake.

Freshman, Logan Cravey was first to put a touchdown on the board with a pass from Quarterback, Fisher Willsey. Cravey completed 3 receptions for a total of 75 yards in the game. Willsey finished with 10 passes for 166 yards. After the touchdown from Cravey, Drew Elmore added the extra 2 point conversion and the score was brought to 27-8 Lavaca.

The Tigers really came to life in the second half of the game. With 20 seconds left in the third quarter, Clint Stovall took a pass from Willsey and with a quarterback keeper for the two-point conversion, and the game upgraded to 35-16 Lavaca. In the fourth quarter with 2 minutes left, Tyler Turnipseed took the ball in for a Tiger touchdown and with Tyler Woolbrights two-point conversion, the game came to a 35-24 close.

Mansfield ended with 280 total yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception. The future looks bright for the Jr High Tigers who will stay home for their next match-up against the Paris Eagles on September 19 at 7 p.m.
