Except for the state heptathlon that will take place on May 17-18, the track season for Mansfield has ended. However, a pair of Lady Tiger distance runners found a competition run on Saturday, May 13 to continue the successes they achieved during the year.
Junior Megan Rose and sophomore Lennon Woods joined 259 other runners from across the state to run the Women Run Arkansas 5K race in Conway. The pair of Tigers not only ran but they won their respective open divisions.
Rose entered the age 15-19 group and won the event in a time of 22:38. She was also third place overall among the large mass of runners competing to support women’s health.
Woods joined the fray in the age 10-14 group. The ninth grader finished as the top placer in her division with a mark of 22:46. She was also just behind her Tiger teammate completing the course in fourth place among all runners.
Both Rose and Woods recently qualified to the class 3A state track meet. Rose made the state finals as a 3200m runner and a 4x800m relay participant. Woods was on the 4x800m team.
In the fall, the two distance runners were Mansfield’s top two cross country runners. Both earned All-District, All-Region, and River Valley All-Star honors for their cross country efforts. In the spring, both were decorated as members of the 3A Region 1 West All-District track team.
Congratulations Ladies #TigerPride
