Obituary – Floyd H. Smith (1935 – 2018)

Floyd H. Smith of Waldron, Arkansas passed from this life, Tuesday, October 23, 2018 in Waldron, Arkansas surrounded by his loving family. Floyd was born August 5, 1935 in Waldron, Arkansas to David and Permelia Jane (Arwood) Smith. Floyd was 83 years, 2 months and 18 days old.

Floyd loved playing and singing. As a young boy he taught himself to play the fiddle, guitar, banjo and mandolin. He enjoyed picking moss, hunting and fishing. He was always up to watch a good wrestling match. However, his most treasured time was being with family and having his grandchildren and great grandchildren around.

Floyd leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 59 years, Wilma (Slater) Smith, his children: Diane Vaughn and husband Tony, Rema Wright, Jerry Smith and Brent Smith. Papa will forever remain in the hearts of his grandchildren: Jason, Jenny, Christine, Heath, Sarah, Ryan, Hannah, Bethany, Jacey, Emily, Jackson, Kerry and Angie, as well as 11 great grandchildren. Floyd will be missed by all that knew him and the many whose lives he impacted, including a host of extended family, friends, neighbors, and loved ones.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, David and Permelia Jane Smith, and his siblings: Carl Smith, Clyde Smith, Jess Arwood, Bill Arwood, RubyReed, Annie Cantrell, Minnie Cantrell and Beaulah McCullough and one grandson, Anthony Vaughn.

Floyd’s life celebration will be Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Jerry Isham officiating. Interment will follow in the Lamb Cemetery near Waldron, Arkansas.

Floyd’s pallbearers will be Tony Vaughn, Scott Stark, Robert Slater, Donald Slater, Sam Slater and Ryan Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Lovett, Darvin Hutchens, Alvin Carnahan, Richard Morris, Bob Lovett, Jim Lovett and Hershal Lovett.

Floyd’s visitation will be Friday, October 26, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas.
