Members of the Pittbull Gray and Pittbull Blue football teams combined forces to compete in the Fall 2020 Cowboy’s AT&T Stadium Red Zone Games. The event hosts teams from across the country and allows each team to play four games. The Pittbull’s would go 3-0-1, beating Talequah, OK and Hilldale, OK to sweep the Oklahoma teams while the tie came against Odessa, TX with a score of 20-20.
This is the 2nd year the Pitbulls have been involved in the Red Zone Games after going 5-0 last year. Justin Mcmillen, Assistant Coach and Pittbull father, said “for the first time kids, they were in awe” when asked how they reacted to being on a professional field. This season, Pittbull Blue finished as Bi-State Champions and Pittbull Gray finished as State Runner-Up and clearly showcased their superior talent down in Arlington.
Not many can ignore the call of the Arkansas River or the promise of a three-pound catch. Even in winter, you’ll have luck with whites and saugers. But if all you’re doing is basic angling, you’re missing out on an entire spectrum of new challenges. Try any of these types of unique fishing techniques for an experience you won’t soon forget.
Hogging and Noodling
Who needs a rod and reel? Not bears, who have grabbed fish straight out of the water for centuries. Hands are better equipment than paws, and you don’t even need a boat. Just grope around the muddy bottom of shallow waters for holes, and wait for a good bite—on your hand. There’s a bit of wrestling involved, so bragging rights are well-earned. Just make sure you check local regulations and limit your prey to buffalo, catfish, carp, and drum.
Jugging
You don’t need expensive gadgetry for this old-school method—just an empty soda jug with a hook and line tied to the neck. You’ll need up to 20 jugs, because this will be a free-floating flotilla you need to follow. When a catfish makes a bid for the bait, the jug starts racing away. It’s up to you to get to the jug before the catfish pulls it under for good. Make sure you label your “equipment” with your name, address, and driver’s license number, per regulation.
Gigging
You’ll use a multi-pronged spear to nab those fish that can be elusive when using other equipment. Use a flat-bottomed boat equipped with lights, because it’s a lot more fun to gig after dark. You can only gig rough fish unless you’ve got a permit for alligator gar. After you’ve been doing it for a few years, you’ll graduate to throwing your gig like a spear, and eventually to the big show: full-fledged spearfishing.
Bowfishing
One of the more physical types of unique fishing techniques, bowfishing requires hunting skills and a lot of hit-and-miss. You’ll need some new equipment because adapting a typical crossbow can be tricky. You can bowfish on land, by boat, or wading in the shallows; take a stab at invasive species like Asian carp, and you’ll be doing everyone a favor. You can go for catfish, too, between July 15 and May 1, but there are limits. Pro tip: Aim low, because the water refraction makes the fish seem higher than they really are.
The Waldron Sr High Bulldogs opened up December with a road win at Dover this past Tuesday night. The Bulldogs scored the first six points of the game with a hot start from behind the three-point line with back-to-back threes from Jaden Hutchens and transition threes from Isaac “The Real” Villarreal. But the Bulldogs would cool down in the first quarter and play five minutes without a field goal. Waldron led the Pirates 9-4 at the end of the first quarter.
By the time the second quarter came though the Bulldogs were warmed-up from inside and out. Bryson Bailey got things started with a layup followed by threes from Villarreal and Gada Wagner. However, it was not just the offensive production for the Bulldogs. Their defense limited Dover to 13 first-half points and the Bulldogs took a 30-13 advantage into the locker room.
In the second half of the game, the Bulldogs attacked the paint and scored their 28 points inside the three-point line. Waldron outscored Dover 18-10 in the 3rd quarter to take a 48-21 lead into the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs would add 10 more points to their total in the final quarter to bring home a 58-35 road win. Coach Joshua Brown stated, “Our guys gave a great effort from tip to finish, especially on the defensive end.” The Bulldogs finished the game with 36 deflections that led to 22 turnovers for the Pirates. The Bulldogs would turn those turnovers into 23 points.
Waldron had three players in double-figures, led by Jaden Hutchens with 15 points, Gada Wagner with 14, and Isaac Villarreal with 11. The Sr Bulldogs move to 4-1 on the season and will travel to Caddo Hills (9-0) on Thursday, December 3, 2020. The Sr. Boys only game will tip at 5:00 p.m. and can be seen on Waldron BulldogsTV for those that cannot travel.

The Magazine Jr High Rattlers and Lady Rattlers are slowly but surely starting to come into their own on the basketball court. At three games into the season, the Jr Lady Rattlers sit 1-2 while the Jr Rattlers are 0-3. In their most recent battle, Magazine hosted Mulberry on Tuesday, December 1st. Although the Jr Rattlers did their best to overthrow the Yellowjackets they fell short 48-58. The Jr Lady Rattlers though took their first victory of the season with a final score of 28-21.
Jaxon Pickartz is averaging 9 points per game and 7 rebounds per game while Aiden Carter is averaging 8 ppg, Nate Smith is averaging 7.6 ppg, and Doc Littleton is averaging 10 ppg. “Our team strengths are size and athleticism,” stated coach Justin Mackey. “The team has great potential and a desire to get better every day. I’m proud of the progress through 3 games, as we have improved in critical areas in each contest.”
The Jr’s will face Union Christian Academy at Union Christian on Thursday, December 3. For the Jr Rattlers, they will again be out two 9th graders due to quarantine. “In order to grab a W vs UCA, we need to continue to adopt the “team before me” mentality, pass up contested looks to find the open shooter, and play hard-nosed defense. I look forward to seeing more improvement tonight,” concluded Coach Mackey.

One way to best describe the Jr Lady Rattler’s gameplay would be high-spirited. “We got off to a good start with some pressure on their guards and good half-court offensive execution on our part with 4 different starters scoring early,” explained coach, Randy Bryan. “But we got in foul trouble due to our aggressive play. Mulberry Pleasant View closed the gap with three of our starters out. We put our starters back in and went on to win comfortably.”
“We play strong to decent at most parts of the game although we don’t shoot particularly well yet. Destiny Corley, Jailynn Sims, Sydney Erp, and Kinzie Robinson all score equally well. Gracee Franklin, Callie Nicholas, and McKenzie Morris have been stalwarts on defense. We are going to need to shoot better to get the win tonight at Ft. Smith and keep building on their progress.”
Don’t make the house hunting process even more stressful by eliminating foreclosures. In some foreclosure situations, the house might be in bad condition—however, that is not always the case. Some houses might just need a little love and TLC. If you see the potential for a home and like the price, take a chance on it. Once you follow the tips for fixing up a foreclosure listed below, you will be happy and loving your new home.
Promptly Fix Any Big Issues
You should prioritize identifying and fixing any big issues promptly. Allowing big issues and problems to linger will only cause more damage and cost more down the line. For example, if there are numerous cracks in the foundation, you need to quickly find the best foundation repair company around to get it fixed promptly and efficiently. Ignoring this will could result in issues such as your basement flooding or your home not being structurally sound. Finding and handling these big issues first will pave the way for the rest of the process.
Add Fresh Paint
It is seriously impressive how much a fresh coat of paint can change a room. Not only does it make the room look clean, but it could change the overall look of the room depending on the difference in color. Doing this to every room before moving anything into the house might be your best course of action. By the time you finish painting, you aren’t even going to recognize the place!
Pick the Most Important Projects First
You don’t need to do everything at once. Instead, make a list of all the projects and renovations you want to complete and prioritize them. By doing this you will be able to complete the projects that are more important and will have the biggest impact on your new home and allow for the smaller more irrelevant projects to be completed at a later date. This will be great for keeping focused and not spending a ton of money at once.
Identifying these tips for fixing up a foreclosure and sharing them with you will hopefully help you find success in creating your dream home. Fixing big issues promptly to avoid safety concerns, adding fresh paint, and identifying what projects you should complete sooner rather than later will make a big difference. Our hope is that by the time you have fixed up the foreclosure, you are happy and in love with your new home!

It’s been a whirlwind of a basketball season for the Cedarville Jr High Pirates and Lady Pirates so far to say the least. Between canceled games and the uncertainty of their season as a whole, Cedarville has hung in there and fought til the end of each match they have encountered. Last night, the Jr Pirates and Lady Pirates hosted Lincoln to a double-trouble serving of dishin’ and swishin’.

They now sit with a 3-1 record. “The girls are off to a very good start,” stated head coach, Andrew Tencleve. “They play incredibly hard and are competing hard. In order for us to take that next step, we have to do a better job of finishing around the rim and taking better care of the basketball.”

The Jr Lady Pirates will hit the court again on Thursday, December 3 when they host Shiloh Christian. “Shiloh will be a good test for us. They like to play fast and if we are going to have success against them, we will have to do a good job handling pressure and finish plays.”
