Educational Background – I graduated from Mansfield and I am in the process of finishing my bachelor’s degree from John Brown University.
Information about family – I have lived in Mansfield my whole life and I have been married to Eric Carlton for 9 years and we have 3 kids that attend Mansfield – Brandon, Madison and Emilie.
Why do you enjoy working with students – I like the ability to help children achieve in everything they do and being able to interact with the students.

We at Mansfield Middle School would like to thank Mrs. Carlton for her time and care for our students at Mansfield Middle School. We also want to thank our tremendous students and parents for all of their support to help us grow lifelong learners at MMS.
The Mansfield Middle School has been tremendously blessed with outstanding leaders of tomorrow. Instead of presenting a group of students of the month, we will attempt to select two students each week from different grades to highlight their abilities and educational success.
5th Grade students of the month for October are Austin Ruiz and Brooklyn Fraize. Both students were nominated by their teachers for outstanding qualities they display by being positive leaders and helpful students and peers.
Austin and Brooklyn are in their first year at the Middle School like all other 5th grade students and seem to be transitioning well.
Austin was nominated for his hard work and dedication in the classroom as well as his leadership projected throughout the day.
Brooklyn has been a persistent worker that is tireless with her dedication. Austin and Brooklyn continue working hard in each and every class and are working at impacting others that are around them. We hope that both students continue to grow and work on being positive students and leaders at Mansfield Middle School.

In their previous meeting, Lamar routed Mansfield 49 – 14. While not characterized by quite the same dominating performance, the rematch ultimately ended up the same way. Lamar strolled past Mansfield with points to spare, taking it 40 – 21.
Mansfield’s record fell to 1-4 after the loss. The win got Lamar up to 2-3. “Tough night for us. Lamar came out and hit us in the mouth early. They dominated us physically. We hung around for a bit and fought back in the second half to bring it to 11, but we keep digging ourselves holes that are tough to get out of. The next 3 weeks are huge for us. every game from this point on is do or die. I still believe we are a playoff team, but its a uphill battle from here. Injuries have played a big role in the last 2 weeks and will continue to do so , its got to be a”next man up”mentality for us right now. I know the type of kids we have, the type of character they have , so Im confident in them as we move forward.” – Head Coach, Craig Bentley

Mansfield (1-3) and Lamar (1-3) take on one another this Friday at 7:00 PM on Mansfield’s home turf. Lamar will be looking to take advantage of a struggling Mansfield defense that has allowed an average of 30.5 points per game.
Victory was within reach last week, but Mansfield ultimately lost 19 – 12 to Paris. The team got a solid performance out of sophomore Ethan Stovall (he threw for 235 yards and two touchdowns); unfortunately, it just wasn’t enough for the win. Meanwhile, Lamar suffered a painful 33 – 11 defeat to Atkins last week.
The last time they met, Lamar was the decided 49 – 14 victor. This time, their match is expected to be much closer since they have similar state rankings (Mansfield at 164th, Lamar at 157th). Will Mansfield avenge its loss? We’ll find out soon enough. GO BIG RED! BEAT LAMAR!!!!

Once pride leaves, it’s hard to bring it back to life. In fact, it’s rarely seen again and takes more than winning.
To be truthful, it takes guts to believe, and stand out to be heard and hope that your passion catches on, and breathes life into a once strong force. Pride is the platform where tradition is built from.
Parents, MHS faculty, students, families, and the community set out to bring back the pride this year. Through events in and around town, and the school, pride is making it’s way back into the hearts of the town we love, and the school we support. To all who believes…. Thank YOU! This week, West Fork and Waldron square off against each other on Friday at 7:00 PM. West Fork is still chasing that elusive “W” after another rough time last week.
West Fork was within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap last week as it fell 19 – 14 to Subiaco Academy.
Meanwhile, Waldron can no longer brag about a perfect record at home. It suffered a painful 47 – 14 defeat to Ozark last week. The offensive line was plagued by an aggressive Ozark defense that sacked the quarterback four times.
After their losses, Waldron dropped to 2-2 and West Fork dropped to 0-4. Both Waldron and West Fork have been struggling on the defensive side of the ball (the former allowing an average of 30.5 points per game, the latter an average of 34 points per game). We’ll find out which offense can take advantage of this fact when the two teams meet this week. GO DOGS! BEAT WEST FORK!!!!

At Mansfield Middle School, we would like to continue to introduce our community to our new staff.
After five weeks of school, we would like to introduce you to Mrs. Juli Desoremeaux.
Mrs. Desormeaux was originally born and raised in Portland, Maine. Mrs. Desoremeaux has lived in Mansfield for the past 25 years. She is a graduate of Gorham, Maine, and graduated from Carl Albert State College. Mrs. Desormeaux has two degrees from Carl Albert, one in Child Development and the other in Pre-Elementary education.
Mrs. Desormeaux’s oldest daughter graduated from Mansfield in 2015, Caitlin. She enjoys spending time with her family, watching football, and enjoying reading. Her favorite book in Princess Bride and her favorite football team is LSU. Even though she is from the Maine area, Mrs. Desoremeaux is a Steelers fan and definitely not a Patriots fan. Mrs. Desormeaux is an instructional assistant at Mansfield Middle School, she spends all day helping students in a variety of ways to be more successful.

Mansfield’s junior boys take a break after completing the 2 mile college loop at Clarksville. The Tiger prep cross country team took second place in the team standings among the small school entries. (Reference above image)
Despite not having any one runner in the top ten, Mansfield’s junior boys amassed a trophy producing team score anyway.
On September 19, the junior Tigers joined in a fray that included 267 total runners in their race at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville. Behind solid overall marks the youthful squad of Mansfield long distance runners accumulated 101 points to take the runner-up prize.
A veteran Elkins team took top honors with 65 total points. Maumelle Charter (117), Lamar (119), and Pottsville (123) rounded out the top 5 schools among 11 qualifying teams.
Ethan Chapman and Steven Perez gave the junior Tigers the best boost as the pair of 8th graders finished 12th and 13th overall. Chapman ran the 2 mile race in 13:20.21 while Perez navigated the same distance in 13:23.89.
Completing the Mansfield scoring five were Tyler Escalante (29), Dru Buckner (31), and Levi Escalante (36). Tommy Phang and Darryl Little served as displacers.
Faith Rainwater and Olivia Bouse led the junior Lady Tigers as the team’s top two finishers. Rainwater was 17th overall among 124 players from just the 1A-4A ranks. Bouse was close behind at 19th place.
On the senior high women’s team, Mansfield’s Megan Rose continued to impress with a 7th place mark overall in the small school division. The senior recorded a time of 23 minutes and 18 seconds over the hilly 5K course.
The trio of Lennon Woods, Natalie Brewer, and Corrina Wesley all finished within five places of one another for the MHS older women. Each crossed the 5K line in the 27 minute range.
Newcomer Addison Goetz completed the course ahead of about one-fourth of the total 173 runners. It was Goetz’s first official 5K race.
Joris Felius and Devon Pyles finished 19th and 22nd among 93 small school runners. Both completed the course before any of the conference foes from Atkins, Charleston, Lamar, and Paris.
