This has been a historic week for Mansfield Tiger Fans, Mansfield School District, and our new coaches. You can’t help but feel a sense of something new in and around town, as well as each School Campus.
Tuesday marked the start of the Lady Tigers Volleyball season playing their first game against the Booneville Bearcats on the newly refurbished floor, and under Head Coach new hire, Savanna Colbert.
The Lady Tigers fell in play against the Bearcats with set scores of 14-25, 19-25, and 11-25.
Later that evening, both the Senior and Junior High Football teams entered Tiger Stadium with a focus on not only the game itself, but starting their season schedule with confidence. The Tigers played 15 downs against the Magazine Rattlers to see how their preparation fared against competition.
Coach Bentley stated, ” Offensively we were able to run and execute our base run plays that we want our offense to revolve around. We didn’t open up the playbook in the pass game, focusing on completion percentage and precise routes. Defensively I was pleased that we were able to get aligned correctly and quickly. We have to tackle better and get a gang tackle mentality, but I was pleased with our physicality. We are looking forward to correcting mistakes this week and starting to focus on Waldron getting ready for Week 1.
GO TIGERS!
