For the first time since 2003 The Waldron Bulldogs are going to the play-offs!
Waldron had their second shut out of the season against the Dover Pirates. Dover couldn’t get anything going on offense all night picking up only a few first downs though the course of the entire game.
The Bulldogs first offensive score came late in the first quarter after a huge run by Cole Huddleston, Followed by 3 unsportsmanlike conduct penalties against the pirates in just one play. Trey Williams finished the possession by scoring a one yard touchdown making the score 7-0. That is the only score that would occur until the fourth quarter for the bulldogs.
Mid way through the 4th quarter Waldron again strikes from Jarrod Starr running the ball in from just a couple yards out. Just one possession later after a defensive stand from the bulldogs Trey Williams trots in again for another bulldog touchdown making the score 19-0.
A huge shout out needs to be given to the entire bulldog defense and the senior that led them through this game. Many tackles resulted in loss for the Pirates coming from bulldogs such as; Dillon Pickens, Joel Cagle, Jarrod Starr, Levi Hayden, Cole Huddleston, Logan Tull, and Matthew Poor.
This win places the Bulldogs as the 5th seed for the playoffs, and for the first time since 2003 the Waldron Bulldogs are going! Waldron’s record is now 5-4, and 3-3 in conference play.
Waldron will travel to Dardanelle this coming Friday to wrap up conference play before the playoffs. Kick off is set for 7:00 pm.
