The Waldron Jr High Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs hit the road to Booneville on March 5th for their first track meet of the season. With a total of 11 teams and 16 events, Waldron definitely let their presence be known. “Our Jr. High boys had a great meet at Booneville finishing 2nd overall with a team total of 141 points,” stated coach, Chance Tanner. “We finished 1st in seven events!”
The Bulldogs placed first in the 4×100 with a time of 47.06 with a team made up of Joseph Rogers, Kason Davis, Steven Figueroa, and Bryson Barker as well as taking first in the 4×800 thanks to Ambrose Poor, Alex Hernandez, Michael Grano, and Steve Grano with their time of 9:56.85. The Bulldogs also took home second in the 4×400 which consisted of Whitley Fielding, Fernando Guerrero, Marco Mondragon, and Peyton Lipham.
Barker won both the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash with times of 11.50 and 23.75. Davis took first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.16, the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 44.28, and high jump, clearing 5’10. Rogers placed eighth in the 100-meter dash. Fielding took seventh in the 200-meter dash, fifth in the 400-meter dash and eighth in high jump. Steve Grano placed sixth in the 800-meter dash. Brayden Houston earned fourth in shot put and sixth in discus. Poor brought in second in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:35.63. Lipham snagged second in pole vault and the 100-meter hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles. And with a time of 5:46 was Jordan Kerr who got fifth in the 1600 meter run.
Matt Brigance placed ninth in discus with a throw of 102-02. Trevor Bates earned seventh in shot put and fifth in triple jump. Logan Young and Figueroa placed eighth and tenth in long jump. Noah Cairns placed sixth in triple jump. And Killian Beck took home sixth in pole vault clearing 8-06. To top off the night, Kason Davis was the big winner earning the high point award.
The Lady Bulldogs also had a successful evening placing runner-up overall with a team total of 110 points. Jasmine Nelson, Emma Wilson, Macie Davis, and Kylee Day brought in first place for the 4×100 with their time of 56.38. Taking second in the 4×800 with a time of 11:43.00 was Maria Grano, Ailey Ledesma, Emily Sears, and Kynlyn Frayer. And with a time of 4:55.08 for third place in the 4×400 was Grano, Lily Morrow, Jaci Odom, and Lily Ming.
Maria Grano was the big winner of the night for the Lady Bulldogs with first place in the 1600 meter run with a personal best of 5:50 along with first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:34.68. Kylee Broomfield took home first in pole vault with a height of 8’0 and Rylie Brown earned seventh. Day placed fourth in the 100-meter dash, seventh in the 200-meter dash and eighth in discus. Nelson scored third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:07.58 and fifth in long jump. Carnley took home second in the 100-meter hurdles and a personal best time of 17.71. And Madison Goff earned third in discus with a throw of 75-10 and ninth in shot put.
Davis earned eighth in the 100-meter dash and third in long jump with a marker of 14-04. Ashlynn Stidman took home eighth in the 400-meter dash. Erika Gabel and Erin Robertson placed third and sixth in the 300 hurdles. Jinger Ward earned sixth in high jump at 4-04. Emily Sears snagged seventh in the 1600 meter run with a personal record best of 6:53. Peyton Boyd placed seventh in shot put. And Kyleigh Cook-Coker picked up a seventh-place win in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 19.65. Coach Angie Bailey couldn’t be more proud of her girls saying “It was a great way to start the season!”
